The Momiji Education Program first began in 1994, offering a wide variety of courses and workshops for all ages and backgrounds for several years. Sadly, in Spring 2020, the pandemic forced Momiji to shut down the program for the safety of our seniors and guests.
Then in Fall 2024, the Momiji Education Program was quietly relaunched with a small selection of courses. Many beloved instructors returned to teach at Momiji, as well as new ones with new knowledge to share! We are working on slowly growing the program each session, adding new weekly classes and workshops that will engage the community.
Anyone can register for Momiji Education courses—seniors, adults, there are even some courses that kids are encouraged to join (with guardian supervision)! To see what is on offer this session, click the link below:
The program runs throughout the year with courses offered in four sessions:
It is imperative that participants, especially those with health issues, check with their doctor to ensure one’s health and safety are not at risk by joining a class or workshop. All students must agree to a Waiver of Responsibility, releasing Momiji Health Care Society from any responsibility for accidents or injuries that occur during course participation. They are also asked to provide an emergency contact in case such an event occurs.
Each session has a Registration Day, found in the Course Guide. Registering students can apply starting at 9am on this day, or any day before the start of the class or workshop. Registration can be done online by going to the link below, or over the phone (please check the Course Guide for the phone number to call).
All registering students will initially be put on a Wait List for the class or workshop. The classes/workshops will then be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. All registering students will be contacted within 5 business days of their registration, and informed whether they have been successfully enrolled, or if they remain on a Wait List. All courses and workshops are subject to minimum and maximum enrollment.
After enrolment confirmation, payment can be made via e-transfer, or on the first day of class with cash, credit card, or cheque. Please arrive early to pay. Do not pay prior to enrolment confirmation.
Once a course or workshop has begun, payments made for the course or workshop will be non-refundable.
On occasion, classes may have to be cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control. Although every effort will be made to reschedule them, it may not always be possible to do so. Please note: A course will be cancelled if the minimum participant number has not been reached one week prior to the workshop or first class.
