TorontoNAJC is holding a special luncheon – “Honouring Japanese Canadians on the 75th Anniversary of their Displacement and Internment in Canada” on Saturday, November 25th from noon to 4pm at Momiji Place. The luncheon is being held in realization that the vast majority of Nisei who experienced the evacuation and internment and/or displacement are well into their senior years and this may be the last opportunity for a community-wide event to honour their courage, stoicism and determination in enduring the hardship of losing homes, property and livelihoods during WW2 and reestablishing their lives after the war.
The luncheon will consist of a bento box lunch, photo exhibits of camp life and live entertainment. It is an informal event and we are encouraging attendees to mix and mingle to meet friends old and new. Tickets are $10/person up to Oct 15th and $15/person from Oct 16th. Tickets can be bought during regular office hours at the Momiji Centre, Toronto Buddhist Church and the JCCC or by sending in a cheque made out to the Greater Toronto Chapter -NAJC to TorontoNAJC, 6 Garamond Ct, Toronto, ON, M3C 1Z5
