Outbreak Lifted: 26 January 2017

Great news – Toronto Public Health has announced the lifting of the outbreak at Momiji Seniors Residence. Regular programs and services will resume tomorrow with two exceptions: A.M. Exercise and the January Ice Cream Social are cancelled.

As there are still many active outbreaks elsewhere, we ask for everyone to be mindful of hand-washing and to not visit if you are ill.

Outbreak Update: 20 January 2017

Yesterday we received identification that the cause of the outbreak is norovirus (commonly known as stomach flu). And we’re not alone: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/influenza-flu-bc-respiratory-winter-vomiting-bug-1.3941381

Our active cases are down substantially from the onset but we are not out of the woods yet. In the meantime, we have been in daily communication with officials at Toronto Public Health. With everyone’s vigilance and a bit of luck, hopefully we can soon report the end of the outbreak and full resumption of programs.
